
Gregory R. Troy is the owner and founder of Troy & Associates, P.A. (formerly known as McLeod & Troy, P.A.). Greg has developed a team of associates who complement his skills and enable him to efficiently meet the needs of clients.
Greg practices primarily in the area of tax planning for individuals and their businesses, estate planning, and adoptions. His clients have benefited from his advice on the federal and state tax consequences resulting from contemplated business transactions as well as past controversies. Greg defends taxpayers facing government tax audits or the trauma of tax collection issues. He pursues refund claims and represents taxpayers in Minnesota and federal court matters. Clients have benefited from Greg’s assistance in the discharge of tax liabilities resulting from negotiated offers in compromise, analysis of statutes of limitations and/or discharges in bankruptcy.
Gregory Troy's tax experience is broad based. Greg has work with International Public Accounting firms following employment with the United States Treasury/Internal Revenue Service. This experience has been vital to client’s success in addressing tax matters, structuring business transactions, developing qualified and non-qualified executive compensation, the avoidance of federal, state, and local tax controversies, and defending audits.
Greg is licensed to practice in Federal Courts, the United States Bankruptcy Court and in the United States Tax Court.
Greg also enjoys representation of birth parents, adoption agencies, and adoptive parents in the adoption process.
Gregory Troy graduated from St. John's University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He earned a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association Tax Section and the National Lawyer's Association. Greg volunteers his service to various non profits and on boards of directors.
